After a two-year hiatus, Red Sox Winter Weekend will return to Springfield, MA, in 2023. The Boston Red Sox will host the weekend getaway for fans and families on January 20-21. The event will occur at MGM Springfield Casino and its neighboring facility, MassMutual Center.
The popular event was canceled two years in a row. The COVID-19 pandemic shut it down in 2021, and it was pushed back again in 2022 due to the MLB lockout. However, Red Sox Winter Weekend is making a comeback in 2023.
What Fans Can Expect
It will be a cold weekend in January when Red Sox Winter Weekend returns. However, that won’t stop Boston fans from participating in the festivities.
The event includes a Town Hall Meeting with Red Sox leaders, autographs and photos with Red Sox players, and round-table discussions on various baseball topics. The weekend also consists of a full baseball festival for fans of all ages.
There will also be some noteworthy names in attendance. Red Sox Hall of Famers including David Ortiz, Pedro Martinez, Wade Boggs, Dennis Eckersley, and Jim Rice will be there. Members of the 2023 Red Sox, including coaching staff, will also be on hand. Fans will also be able to hang out with Wally the Green Monster and his sister Tessie. Family-friendly activities include wiffle ball on the indoor field, a virtual reality experience, and batting and pitching cages.
The weekend will begin Friday night with the introduction of the participating players, followed by the fan-interactive Town Hall Meeting where Red Sox leadership will answer questions from fans. For the first time, Winter Weekend will also incorporate the annual Boston Baseball Writers Awards ceremony.
