What is the newest Massachusetts online sportsbook?

The most recent sports betting app in Massachusetts is Fanatics Sportsbook. It launched its beta product in late May. However, it has not yet launched its full product. Only existing Fanatics merchandise and apparel customers have access to the beta sportsbook product.

Fanatics Sportsbook

Fanatics is a multi-billion dollar brand known for sports apparel and collectibles. But, now Fanatics has their eyes fixed on the growing sports betting market. After hiring away a top executive from FanDuel in 2021, Fanatics started planning its own sportsbook product. Earlier this year, the company launched into its first state, Tennessee, for a beta test. It’s also available for limited use by beta testers in Massachusetts, Maryland, and Ohio.

Fanatics Betting and Gaming CEO Matt King has promised his company wishes to bring innovation to the marketplace in sports betting. A pending purchase by Fanatics of PointsBet USA indicates that the company is serious about earning market share.

As soon as Fanatics announces a launch date for its full sports betting app, and reveals any promotional offers or welcome bonuses, we will have that information here on PlayMA.

Betr

Betr launched a full sports betting product in Massachusetts on May 8.

Backed by YouTube personality and celebrity boxer Jake Paul, Betr focuses on microbetting. Microbetting is similar to live betting, but on a more moment-to-moment scale. For instance, what will be the result of this at-bat? Which team will make the next 3-pointer?

Unfortunately for Paul and everyone associated with Betr, the app has struggled mightily so far in Massachusetts. It owned just 0.09% of the Massachusetts market in June … and that was even worse than its shortened debut month of May.

Which Massachusetts sports betting apps will launch next?

Betway

A well-known brand in international sports betting markets, Betway has indicated that it will launch its product in January of 2024. The company has completed its application and paid a fee to enter the Massachusetts market.

Betway, a United Kingdom-based platorm, has betting operations in dozens of countries, including licensing agreements in nine US states. In addition to Massachusetts, Betway also has licenses in Arizona, Colorado, Indiana, Iowa, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

Customers in Massachusetts may not be familiar with Betway, but the company has been successful in other regions in the country. As an additional sports betting app option in MA, Betway will give consumers another trusted, reliable sportsbook to consider.

Bally Bet

Bally Bet has been approved for a MA license, but is not expected to join the market until 2024.

Bally Bet has reasons for delaying a launch in Massachusetts: The company is transitioning its mobile app to a new technology platform by Kambi Group. That decision has placed any launch on hold, seemingly. Originally, PlayMA thought Bally Bet may enter the Massachusetts market in 2023, but now it might not be until 2024.

With Bally Bet, Fanatics, and Betway all approved in the state, Massachusetts has awarded 10 of its 15 sports wagering licenses.

Benefits of signing up for new Massachusetts online sportsbook

Even if you’ve only heard of BetMGM MA, FanDuel MA, or DraftKings MA, for example, there are excellent reasons to register with other sports betting apps in Massachusetts. Even established bettors who have an affinity for a “favorite app” for placing bets on the Celtics and Red Sox should consider opening accounts with new mobile sportsbooks.

New sign-up offers

A new welcome bonus can only be used if you register with a new Massachusetts sportsbook. These apps typically offer a bonus bet or possibly even a deposit match to new registrants, Why would they do that? Because the sportsbooks want to get new customers onto their apps.

In Massachusetts you can register with multiple sportsbooks. You are allowed to take advantage of more than one promo offer or bonus bet handout. Be sure to read the details of any offer: Bonus bets are just that — “bonus” offers you earn only after placing a qualifying bet or deposit.

New app features

Any time new companies enter a market, you see increased competition. One of the ways competitors differentiate themselves is through innovation. Think “new products and features.”

As new sportsbooks move into the Massachusetts sports wagering market, it’s likely consumers will see innovation. Fanatics has indicated it may incorporate “microbetting” into its product. Such common features as live betting, in-game highlights and the Same Game Parlay are all examples of innovative product and betting categories that sportsbooks have created to make the experience more fun for customers.

Competitive odds

Competition doesn’t just drive innovation, it also places pressure on price. That’s why you see prices go down when new competitors challenge established brands. When more sportsbooks enter the MA betting market, we should see opportunities for better odds. In some cases, this manifests itself as odds boosts, where the sportsbook presents an attractive odds price to entice users. Or we may see one sportsbook offer slightly better odds in one sport.

Choosing a new MA sportsbook

Unique features

Most sports bettors will admit they choose an app that has the best features. In-game highlights (you want to see that Pats scoring drive in real-time) and options like cash-outs and microbetting, or even the ability to bookmark all your favorite sports bets, are important. The only way to know if you love an app is to download it and try it.

Promos for Patriots, Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics

It’s a given that when new MA sportsbooks arrive, they’ll roll out MA sportsbook promos. They’ll often have exclusive offers involving Massachusetts teams, too.

Ease of withdrawal, deposit

Don’t forget to learn about deposit and withdrawal policies for any new MA sportsbook. Do they allow PayPal? How much time does it take to receive your winnings?

Parlay options

The parlay is a popular betting option. With a parlay you can create the bet you want with odds that go up, up, up. A three-leg parlay may be worth as much as +1200 odds, for example. Which means a winning $100 wager can net you $1,200. Each new MA sports betting app will have a parlay builder that allows the customer to make their own bet. Some even offer their own SGP picks for most sporting events.

Customer service

A hallmark of the Massachusetts sports betting market has been its commitment to customer support. All of the sports betting apps in the commonwealth are very good at providing assistance to their customers. We never review a sportsbook here at PlayMA unless we feel its reliable and accountable to consumers.

Responsible gambling tools

To comply with Massachusetts gaming law, new sports betting apps are required to include responsible gambling messaging. They will also incorporate gambling addiction resources such as the self-exclusion tools and temporary self-exclusion from betting, and much more.

Every page of a sports betting site and every screen on a sportsbook app in Massachusetts must have the gambling hotline or messaging, which makes it easy to get to the resources needed in case you feel you have a problem with your wagering.

How to tell a new sportsbook is legit

The MGC oversees the sports betting and gaming industry in the state. Through licensing and regulatory oversight, that body ensures consumers are safe. In an industry where the customer may deposit large amounts of money, and place it at risk, it’s important that new MA sportsbooks are legitimate and safe.

New Massachusetts sportsbooks must offer secure methods of deposit. They must have a policy of allowing withdrawals securely and efficiently. Privacy is also important, and operators must adhere to regulations that restrict how private information, including customer banking information, can be handled.

As we outlined above, responsible gambling practices in Massachusetts are paramount. The state is known for its insistence that sportsbooks provide the requisite responsible gambling resources to all consumers.

Consumers who use the newest online sportsbooks in Massachusetts can count on a heightened level of safety and privacy. The sports betting industry, in fact, has been a leader in implementing technology that ensures a safe transactional experience on their apps and betting sites.
