Sportsbook operator Betr has pitched an idea to integrate the Massachusetts State Lottery into its products.

More specifically, Betr’s free-to-play product called “Betr Ticket” is proposing a promotional partnership with the MA Lottery that appeals to visitors at Fenway Park tours.

The partnership would allow visitors at tours of the historic ballpark to pick numbers within its app and tie the winners to outcomes of sporting events like a Red Sox game.

The proposal was announced by Betr in a presentation to the Massachusetts Gaming Commission last week.

Overall, the effort is in compliance with recommendations from the MGC to incorporate the lottery into MA online sports betting apps.

Free-to-play game

According to Betr, the proposed integration of the Betr Sportsbook app and the Massachusetts State Lottery aims to offer users exclusive promotions, rewarding experiences, and a vibrant community centered around sports betting and lottery participation.

In Massachusetts, Betr Ticket users can build a “ticket” of statistical outcomes in sporting events. Those picks on the ticket are used to determine a winner based on what happens in a game. But there are no odds and no wagering on the event occurs.

Free-to-play betting games like Betr Ticket can be a foundational way for consumers to become familiar with using an app and making selections on sporting events, without connecting a credit card or bank account.

These kind of free-to-play games without monetary risk are becoming common across the US as sports betting is legalized in more states.

The Massachusetts Lottery already has a presence in the Betr sportsbook app. Betr includes the lottery within its in-app ads rotation and promotes the lottery as a funding source for education in the Commonwealth.

Popularity of Fenway Park tours

Fenway Park tours began in the early 2000s and have quickly become one of the most popular activities in Boston.

Tours are offered year-round, and have proven to be popular even in the offseason months from November to March. Each tour allows fans to visit parts of the clubhouse, VIP box seating and the famed left field wall known as “the Green Monster.”

The success of the franchise this century with four World Series titles has helped fuel intense interest in the ballpark, as the team has booked thousands of tours.

About Betr Massachusetts

Betr is known for having introduced one of the first microbetting platforms for sports wagering in the US.

Microbetting allows consumers to wager on the outcomes of incremental events within a sporting event, such as the result of the next pitch in an MLB game.

Massachusetts launched online betting on March 10, and the Betr Massachusetts app joined the market in May. Today, Betr is one of eight licensed online sports betting operators in the state. The Betr Sportsbook app can be downloaded to iOS or Android devices for free.

About the MA State Lottery

The Massachusetts State Lottery is one of the oldest in the country, having sold its first ticket in 1972.

In more than five decades, the state lottery has earned more than $30 billion in tax revenue for the Commonwealth.
