This week, one of the country’s largest slot machine manufacturers will unveil its new games at a gaming convention in Las Vegas.
Aristocrat Gaming announced it would display its newest selections at the Global Gaming Expo, more commonly called G2E, this week. The convention runs from Oct. 9-12 at the Sands Convention Center at the Venetian Las Vegas.
Aristocrat supplies the three brick-and-mortar Massachusetts casinos with many of their machines.
Aristocrat ‘pulling out all the stops’ for new games
Aristocrat is the second-largest slot machine manufacturer in the world, behind only IGT. As a result, the company will have nearly 200 new games on display in Las Vegas — many of which will end up in Massachusetts casinos in the near future.
The company’s games are highlighted by Buffalo Ultimate Stampede, Wonder 4 Revolution, Whisker Wheels, Buffalo Triple Boost, Coin Trio and the rest of their NFL-themed slot machines.
“This year, we’re pulling out all the stops — prominently featuring the starting lineup of the NFL Slots games in our booth, which headline a diverse portfolio across Class II, Class III, adjacent and international markets and the combined online Real Money Gaming and CXS division of Aristocrat, Anaxi,” Aristocrat Gaming CEO Hector Fernandez said in a press release. “We’re proud to showcase 100% new to the public for-sale products on the show floor for the second year in a row, an achievement made possible by a continued investment in innovation and industry-leading studios who are player-centric.
Last month, Aristocrat sent the first of their NFL slot machines to 27 casinos nationwide. Consequently, certain Massachusetts casinos received New England Patriots-themed slot machines. In September 2022, Aristocrat became an official partner of the New England Patriots.
The NFL-themed machines mark the first time the league, the players union and a casino game creator entered into a licensing deal for the game itself.
How many slot machines are in Massachusetts?
There are 5,908 slot machines in the Bay State. Encore Boston Harbor is home to the most with 3,158 machines. Additionally, MGM Springfield adds 1,500 to the total and Plainridge Park Casino contains the remaining 1,250.
A good chunk of those machines were created by Aristocrat Gaming, a subsidiary of Aristocrat Leisure Ltd., an international global entertainment and content creation company. At G2E, the company is located at booth No. 1133, where they will feature all of their new gaming offerings.
According to Fernandez, the licensing deal with the NFL was partially inspired by an effort to offer slot machines that would appeal to men at casinos. Most players of slot machines are women (trending to an older demographic), and the NFL is immensely popular with males, especially those in their 20s, 30s, and 40s.
