One of Boston’s most beloved professional athletes is temporarily representing one of Massachusetts’ eight online sportsbooks.
Former New England Patriots quarterback and seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady is part of BetMGM’s television ad campaign for this year’s NFL Championship.
Brady joins NHL legend Wayne Gretzky and actor Vince Vaughn as the trio starring in BetMGM’s first-ever Super Bowl commercials.
BetMGM believes cast connects with the brand
The online betting arm of MGM Resorts is operational for online sports betting and traditional casino games in 20 states nationwide. Lawmakers haven’t legalized Massachusetts online casinos yet. But there’s an MGM brick-and-mortar casino in Springfield. And BetMGM Massachusetts is an option for MA online sports betting.
Its parent company is a staple of the gambling industry. The company owns nine casinos in Las Vegas and a couple more hotels. Its home city is where this year’s big game is.
With the year’s biggest sporting event in its backyard, MGM grabbed one of the best football players, the best hockey player and one of the country’s top comedic actors to represent the brand.
BetMGM Chief Revenue Officer Matt Prevost said the three stars are perfect for the brand’s first Super Bowl.
“This year’s Big Game is our moment to put BetMGM front and center of the largest audience in sports,” he said in a press release. “Our first-ever Big Game commercial showcases Las Vegas as a home for the game as well as what we consider to be BetMGM’s home. We couldn’t be happier with the talent we have assembled for the ad, and the connection they have to our brand.”
Ads showcase light-hearted fun between the cast
BetMGM hired the award-winning agency, Highdive to create the campaign. The Chicago-based ad agency won three consecutive USA Today Admeter awards and is considered an industry leader.
Their ads aim to help BetMGM implement a multi-faceted strategy to “amplify its brand” in the lead-up to and during the game.
Here’s a look at one of the previews:
The game will be played on Feb. 11 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, home of the Raiders.
