Plainridge Park Harness Racing named Mitchell Cushing its Driver of the Month for October 2026 after he recorded 25 wins and $402,955 in purse earnings, according to Harnesslink.
Cushing also posted 23 second-place finishes and 16 thirds during the month, finishing in the money in 44% of his drives.
Massachusetts-bred victories include a track record
Among Cushing’s October wins was a $42,000 Massachusetts Breeders Stakes event aboard Sting Me. The victory gave the horse a new lifetime mark and established a Plainridge Park track record for 2-year-old pacing geldings. It also made Sting Me the fastest Massachusetts-bred pacing gelding in history.
On Oct. 13, Cushing guided Pastrnak to victory in a $20,000 pace for 3-year-old Massachusetts-bred pacers at Plainridge Park.
Cushing sits five wins behind the season leader
Through October, Cushing ranked second in Plainridge Park’s 2026 driver standings with 146 victories, five behind leader Matthew Athearn.
His season results also included 110 second-place finishes and a 48% in-the-money rate. His drives had generated $1,922,028 in purse earnings.
