Is it just me, or do we all have horse racing fever now? We’re fresh off of one of the biggest upsets in Kentucky Derby history, so the upcoming Preakness Stakes on Saturday, May 21, surely has horse racing fans on the edge of their seats.
The Preakness is the second leg of the coveted Triple Crown. Only 13 horses have won the Triple Crown, which is only accomplished when a 3-year-old horse wins each of the following races:
- The Kentucky Derby
- The Preakness
- The Belmont Stakes
The 2022 Kentucky Derby saw 80-1 longshot Rich Strike take home the victory. Typically, that would mean Rich Strike would be competing in the upcoming Preakness Stakes for the Triple Crown. However, Rich Strike’s connections have opted to bypass the Preakness and prepare for the Belmont.
Just because the Triple Crown is not on the line, however, does not mean the Preakness isn’t worth your time. It is still one of the premier horse races of the year, and will surely be an exciting race.
Massachusetts horse bettors will be able to bet on the race even from the comfort of their own homes, all thanks to TVG.
