What were the first sports bets placed at MGM Springfield's sportsbook? From playma.com

Sports betting launched at MGM Springfield and Massachusetts’ two other casinos Tuesday at 10 a.m.

For its opening day celebration, the BetMGM Sportsbook at MGM Springfield had local politicians and Boston Bruins legend Ray Bourque place its ceremonial first sports wagers. Curious what wagers they placed? And want to know how much money they’ll pocket if those bets win?

Well, here were their bets:

Ray Bourque

Former Boston Defenseman, Five-Time Norris Trophy Winner

💰 $100 on the Boston Bruins to win the Stanley Cup

Is it any surprise the Bruins legend opted to back his team with his momentous first bet? With +450 odds for the Bruins at BetMGM Massachusetts, Bourque’s bet will yield a $550 payout if the Bruins win the Stanley Cup.

Domenic Sarno

Mayor of Springfield

💰 $50 on the Philadelphia Eagles to win the Super Bowl

With -120 odds for the Eagles at BetMGM Massachusetts, Sarno’s bet will yield a $91.67 payout if the Eagles win the Super Bowl.

Adam Gomez

State Senator

💰 $100 on the Kansas City Chiefs to win the Super Bowl

With +100 odds for the Chiefs at BetMGM Massachusetts, Sarno’s bet will yield a $200 payout if the Chiefs win the Super Bowl.

Carlos Gonzalez

State Representative

💰 $50 on the Philadelphia Eagles to win the Super Bowl

With -120 odds for the Eagles at BetMGM Massachusetts, Gonzalez’s bet will yield a $91.67 payout if the Eagles win the Super Bowl.

Any Love for the Celtics?

Interestingly, none of the four special guests placed a futures bet on the Boston Celtics. At +400, Boston is the current favorite for the NBA Finals at BetMGM — and all other US sportsbooks.

Early futures odds for the Boston Red Sox at BetMGM are +8000 right now. The $100 Bourque and Gomez placed on the Bruins and Chiefs, respectively, would have led to $8,100 payouts if the Red Sox win the World Series next fall.
