The Massachusetts online sports betting launch is just days away and DraftKings is pulling out all the stops to get the word out about its mobile sportsbook.
The Boston-based online sportsbook is set to air a “Bet Local” commercial in Massachusetts, beginning March 10. It will feature a star-studded cast of some of the most popular athletes and celebrities from the Bay State.

Boston sports legends, local celebrities in DraftKings Sportsbook commercial
The DraftKings Sportsbook MA commercial will feature names that every Boston sports fan is familiar with.
David Ortiz, Zdeno Chara, Brian Scalabrine and Aly Raisman created a buzz when all were spotted filming the DraftKings commercial outside TD Garden in January.
Raisman is a Needham native who won three gold medals as part of the 2012 and 2016 US Olympic teams. Ortiz was a first-ballot Hall of Famer and was part of three World Series teams for the Red Sox. Chara was a dominant force with the Bruins during his 14 seasons, serving as a captain each of those years. Scalabrine is one of the most beloved Boston sports figures of all time, playing on the 2007-2008 Celtics team that won the NBA Finals. The “White Mamba” is now an NBA analyst and broadcaster.
The commercial also features actor and comedian Lenny Clarke and Bruins anthem singer Todd Angilly.
If you’re wondering where the Patriots representation is, Rob Gronkowski already partnered with DraftKings’ rival, FanDuel Sportsbook MA, and Julian Edelman is a brand ambassador for WynnBET Massachusetts.
With MA online sportsbooks set to launch at 10 a.m. ET on March 10, fans will start seeing the commercial on Friday.
DraftKings ties to Massachusetts
Although DraftKings is a national juggernaut in sports betting and DFS, the industry leader got its start in Massachusetts. Matt Kalish, DraftKings president and co-founder, was born in Lowell and helped start the company from a spare bedroom in a Watertown apartment.
DraftKings has kept these Massachusetts ties along the way by having its headquarters in Boston’s Back Bay. DraftKings has more than 3,000 global employees, with more than 600 at its Boston headquarters.
